Shin-Sen-Gumi Celebrates 30 Years w/ Japanese Foodie/Cultural Festival

09.02.22

Shin-Sen-Gumi celebrates its 30th anniversary with an incredible Japanese cultural experience from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on September 3 at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center. Known for hosting fun events throughout the year, the most important to Shin-Sen-Gumi is its Summer Festival, when special guests and entertainers are flown in from Japan to showcase the island culture.

This year is extremely special as Shin-Sen-Gumi celebrates three decades of providing traditional Japanese cuisine throughout Southern California – and beyond, through its online meal kits.

Guests will be able to join in the fun for just $1 – with all admission proceeds going to the City of Torrance’s educational efforts. Once inside, food from more than 50 of the best Japanese vendors will be available – including a ramen eating contest with a $1,000 grand prize purse – along with live entertainment including Japanese favorites like Kirishima Kumen Taiko Preservation Society" Mayumi Hashimoto, Kazuma Tei, Yoshitaka Nogata (Chairman of Yamato Taiko Preservation Society, Honorary Chairman of Saga Prefecture Taiko Union, Chairman of All Kyushu Taiko Union), and lastly, Samurai Drums Monsters NOBUSHI on the main stage throughout the day.

The ultimate goal of Shin-Sen-Gumi’s 30th-anniversary festival is to promote a positive cultural exchange, calling for world peace, harmony and prosperity. And of course to celebrate wonderful Japanese food and culture.

Shin-Sen-Gumi’s Japanese festival takes place at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center at 3330 Civic Center Drive in Torrance,
